Junior Church

Welcome to the home page for Junior Church at The Priory.

We meet at the Priory Church Hall at 9am every Sunday, except second Sunday of the month, during term time. All children over the age of 3 are welcome. We continue until 9.55 am, when we join the main congregation for the Peace. During our time together we use age-appropriate activities i.e. singing, discussion and craft. We have a craft workshop at Easter and similar activities in the evenings in preparation for Christmas. We have a jamboree in the Priory Meadows during the summer.

The Children’s Charter
We at the Priory Church recognise that children are full and equal partners in the life of the Church. Fellowship is for us all – each belonging meaningfully to the rest. To our young people we say:

  • The church will welcome you
  • The church will accept and value you
  • The church will work to meet your needs
  • The church will be Christ-like in its approach to you
  • The church will nurtute you in faith and worship
  • The church will provide you with appropriate teaching
  • The church will offer you relevant worship
  • The church will encourage you to serve others
  • The church will endeavour to provide you with a sense of community
  • The church will support you in sharing the Good News of Christ in word and deed

from a charter written by the Children’s committee, Diocese of Blackburn, 1997.

Join us for Messy Church!
We recently introduced Messy Church to the Parish. Held at the Priory Church the Messy Church sessions are open to all ages and offer fun, fellowship, food and worship!

The next session is planned for Wednesday 8th January 13 from 2pm in the Priory Church Dunstable.

The Pram Service
The Pram Service is held on the first Tuesday of each month in the St John’s aisle of the Priory Church at 2pm.

This is an informal act of worship for little ones from a few weeks old up to school age. We have a story, craft, activities and percussion on a particular theme i.e. New Life or friends, in a relaxed atmosphere of fellowship and fun. Time for a chat and refreshments afterwards. We’d love to share it with you.

Chellington Youth Weekend
This year’s annual youth weekend at Chellington in Bedford took place on the weekend of the 28th September 2012. 19 young people aged between 10 and 17 came together to play games, undertake team activities and share worship. This year we were even joined on the walk at a local beauty spot by the Bishop of Bedford and his wife.

Easter Workshop – Saturday 7th April
We all had a great time at the Easter Workshop! All of the children went home with Easter themed gifts for their friends and family including cards, crosses, painted eggs and Easter Gardens. Easter Sunday involved an egg rolling competition after the service for children of all ages.

below are some pictures of the workshop fun!

3rd Dunstable Beavers
Do you have a child between 6 and 8 years old who likes to have fun and make new friends? If so, we have some spaces at the moment for boys and girls of this age. The 3rd Dunstable (St. Peter’s) Scout Group is sponsored by the Priory Church. For further information please contact Gill Short ( gill.short@ntlworld.com) or Rosemary O’Toole

Parents Group
Do you have children? Do you ever feel challenged to understand the best way to handle situations from sleep issues & school dilemmas through to internet usage and mobile phones?

We have started a new group for parents within the parish to come together and discuss topical parenting issues. By supporting one another we hope that we can make a difference. We want the group to be sociable as well as educational, to ensure that we all enjoy the experiences of being a parent!
